On 25 of January “The Best School Site” contest will start in Uzbekistan, in which Uzbek general education schools and gymnasiums will participate, that have official sites. The contest organizers are: The Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Hewlett-Packard Office in Uzbekistan, The Center for the Development of Multimedia Education Programs under the MOPE of the RUz and SCINET INFO SYSTEM Company. The Network of Creative Teachers of Uzbekistan Edunet.uz will provide an organizational support.

The second contest of school sites is conducted for assistance to creative school staff in creation and development of own sites and increase of teachers’ interests to modern information-communication technologies. The contest shall help schools organize a dialog between a school and a family, parents and children, teachers and students in the Internet, shall attract community to web-activity in schools of Uzbekistan and assist in introduction of modern ICT into all spheres of a school life.

The main criteria of sites evaluation are as follows: decoration, information, pedagogical value, quality and effectiveness of a feedback. Besides, experts have developed a system of bonus points. Schools, whose sites are located in Tas-IX and registered in UZ domain and in a main catalogue of Uznet www.uz will receive bonus points.

The contest will be held in two stages. On the first one, which has been going fore more than two months (from 25 of January 2011 to 7 of March 2011), schools will have an opportunity to apply for participation in the contest, consult with experts and perfect their own sites. The application can be submitted by any person, interested in a site participation under the contest. The second stage, evaluation of sites by judges and summary will take place from 8 of March 2011 to 29 of March 2011. After the completion of all stages an Awarding Ceremony will take place, where winners will be awarded.

First, second and third places will be awarded on the contest, along with a diploma and a valuable prize. Prizes and diplomas of the Festival will be awarded to a school Principal or his representative. In February 2011 contest organizers will invite community for participation in voting for “The most Popular School Site”.

Interested organizations and companies of Uzbekistan can become partners of the contest and establish their own prize nominations for school sites.

The organizers invite Mass media of Uzbekistan and thematic sites of Uznet to render information support to the contest. Actions for nominations establishment and information support in Uznet will be enlightened on www.edunet.uz site, a popular teachers’ portal, and company logos will be located on the official contest site.
